SPhere (formerly SP Metal) is a leading European manufacturer of refuse bags and other consumer products, such as freezer bags, food wrapping and films.

Historically, the business has grown both organically and by acquisition since its inception in 1976, and is currently market leader in France, Spain and Benelux. It has a good reputation for technical and marketing innovation.

SPhere is involved in both ‘classical’ plastic-based products and biodegradable products.

Equistone invested through a capital development deal and holds a minority position alongside the management.

VALUE CREATION

Between 2003 and 2010, the group has completed several acquisitions, including a strategic one in the field of biodegradable plastics.

THE EXIT

Equistone sold its investment to the management and private investors, enabling the group to continue its external growth strategy and its development in the field of biodegradable products.
