Allied Glass specialises in the production of complex glass bottles and supplies its containers to some of the world’s leading beverage companies. The business employs over 650 people across two factory sites in Leeds and Knottingley.

VALUE CREATION

Since investment, Allied Glass has consistently performed well and is the UK’s fourth largest glass bottle manufacturer by volume with a clear focus on supporting the high-end global spirits industry.

Equistone has worked closely with the management team to develop the business by:

• Refocusing towards the premium spirit sector with the development of design capabilities and brand support.
• Supporting investment in a new decoration facility.
• Successfully transitioning the former management team to the 2010 MBO team, led by Alan Henderson who has developed into a strong CEO, capable of taking the business through the next phase of growth.
• Recruiting a new FD to improve the financial and operational KPIs within the business. The information generated today enables a better understanding of key areas such as the future sales pipeline, expected conversion, margin by product etc.

THE EXIT

Equistone sold its Fund III investment in Allied Glass to Close Brothers Private Equity yielding a 2.5x return.
